If you've tuned into any of my content recently, you may have noticed a BIG change. I've been streaming much less, I haven't touched Call of Duty and I've been playing some pretty random games (I'm looking at you TFT). Yes, the cat is finally out of the bag. I have become the dreaded League of Legends player that every game despises, BUT we'll save that for another day and another blog.
On a real note, I think it's important to note when a door finally closes. For me at this time, I'm doing all my content as a hobby. Gaming is something I truly love and even though my content may shift forms from 8-hour streams to random blogs on a Tuesday night - this is weirdly so enjoyable to me. So the content isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
My very real, non-Canadian girlfriend sent me this picture the other day from 2019 and it's CRAZY looking back at this and seeing where it all began.
This is me just absolutely ripping Fortnite off my PS4, while sitting on the most random chair my family has in the house. Funny enough, I still use the same pair of headphones and used that same PS4 controller until it broke about a year ago.
Simply put, gaming is and always will be a part of me. It's my escape from the real world. I'll always be grateful to have it as a hobby to connect with friends and get away from the madness of the real world.
With that, I've taken some time to really ramp up the website again. I wanna share the best gaming stories with you guys again! I wanna be able to do it in video form and blog form for my people reading at work or while they commute.
I'm making it a goal to blog a minimum of 3 days per week and we'll also have some blogs from my boy Joc - and if you don't know the name already, then get used to it! He dropped his first blog and it's an absolute BANGER if I do say so myself.
Joc has been a phenomenal help to my process since peak COVID times. He created a lot of the assets we use for emotes on Twitch, graphics for previous tournaments and even my Elden Ring overlay (yes, those streams are coming back when the DLC drops and I'm ****ing pumped).
Now, let's get into what I really wanted to talk about...
It Feels Like The End of Call of Duty
Now I'm not just saying this because TDawgSmitty has quit CoD (but if there ever has been a tell tale sign...).
If you've been around the Call of Duty scene for as long as I have, you know it just feels....different. Every yearly release just continues to be a major let down. This year, I didn't even make it until December!! I deleted MW3/Warzone 3 off my PC and haven't looked back.
Call of Duty had one of the greatest gaming empires we've ever seen! However, it seems to be crumbling down in front of our very eyes. Now I don't have to go thru a long list of every reason why I think so, but here are some key points:
When Nadeshot Speaks Out You Know You're Screwed
For the few who may not be familiar with Nadeshot, he's basically the Godfather of Call of Duty. He grew his name by being one of the best competitive players in CoD 4, MW2, MW3, Black Ops, Black Ops 2, etc. Not only was he a player, but he was always making YouTube video and growing his brand. Now, he owns esports org 100 Thieves.
I'd also say he's generally one of the most positive people out there so when he finally speaks out on certain topics, you know it's for a reason. He's been trying to grind the SR leaderboard for MW3 and he finally hit his breaking point.
Cheating in Call of Duty has gotten so out of control that virtually every death by these high skilled players is caused by a cheater. It's OUTRAGEOUS. And now according to that video above, the cheaters are even able to toggle off the instant that ricochet started investigating them.
To put it in layman's terms, the cheaters are 100000000 times more advanced than the anti-cheat. AKA we're screwed.
Call of Duty Lost Its Fastball
It's not only the anti-cheat, but Call of Duty is just boring these days. The old MW2 maps were cool for like a day. Then, I quickly got pissed I was playing "Quarry" in the year 2023. It just feels like the devs only care about getting every last dollar out of us instead of caring about actually producing a quality game.
You have to give CoD some credit though - Call of Duty basically had 2 golden ages. The first was between CoD 4 and Black Ops 2. The second was peak Warzone baby. NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING, hit like OG Verdansk. I swear that game saved my life and probably so many other people's sanity during Covid. But that's almost 4 years ago and Warzone/Call of Duty has only (somehow) gotten worse. For me personally, my journey with Call of Duty has come to a screeching halt.
All good things come to an end one day or another. However, today it feels like Call of Duty's time is knocking at the door.
