Alright, I'm very aware that this may ruffle from feathers, but the truth is Star Wars Jedi: Survivor just didn't do it for me. There's various reasons why that we're going to be diving into later in this blog but I simply couldn't get invested in the game. It didn't captivate me the way I was hoping and I was ultimately really disappointed...
Where Jedi Survivor Fell Short
Before we really get into WHY it flopped for me - let me start by saying this: this entire blog and website are fully my opinions. I'm not the sharpest knife in the shed, so you may not agree with everyone (or any) of my takes. But that's the beauty of gaming - everyone likes what they like and no 2 gamers are the same. In your eyes, Jedi Survivor could've been the best game of all-time and you're correct! It's a completely subjective topic.
For me, it was simple:
I just got finished playing close to 100 hours of Elden Ring (one of the best games of all time btw) and I felt slightly burnt out on single player campaigns.
The combat seemed way too simply and repetitive. I really don't like how if you block a storm trooper's laser, it'll immediately project right back at them and instantly kill them. There's no aiming to deflect required which I thought was silly. The boss fights were....bizarre. The combat felt a little forced (lol Star Wars joke) and clunky.
I didn't play Fallen Order so I didn't immerse myself in the entire story of Cal.
Too many cutscenes for my liking
My expectations were WAY too high
Listen, I know I've being extremely picky here. I weirdly wanted to compare this game to Hogwarts Legacy, but that's so wildly unfair to Jedi: Survivor. The games just aren't comparable. We've gotten Star Wars video games throughout the years, whereas we haven't had a true Hogwarts game since Harry Potter and the Cahmber of Secrets on PS2 (also shoutout to the World Cup Quidditch)
So basically, this is one of those break-up situations where I say, "Hey, it's not you. It's me." I definitely will go back and play Jedi: Survivor at some point. However, I wanna catch up with the Cal storyline first and really understand the game. I'll have a better appreciation for the game and I'll be more captivated by the cutscenes and quests.
